Bernardo Cifres was born in Carlet. He began his musical studies at the Union Musical in his hometown, and at the age of eleven, he started his horn studies with Mr. Manuel Campos. Later, he studied with Professors Mr. J.J.Llimerá and Mr. J.Rosell. At the end of Elementary Grade he obtained the Honorable Mention and was granted from the Fundación Santiago Lope de Valencia. He has also done courses with teachers V. Wattle, F. Burguera, J. Molnar, D. Clevenger and E. Terwilliger, with whom he has been working since 1995. He has also studied natural horn with professors J. Renteria and T. Van Der Zwart.
He has performed with the Orchestra of the Conservatory of Valencia, Camerata del Prado in Madrid, Colegium Instrumentale of Valencia, Euskadi Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Turiae Valencia, Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, Castilla y Leon Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Galicia, Granada City Orchestra, Symphony of Galicia, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Navarre Symphony Orchestra - Pablo Sarasate, Barcelona 216 Contemporary Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias, among others.
As a teacher, he has worked in the C.E.M. Juan Antxieta of Bilbao and at the Conservatory "Jesus Guridi" of Vitoria. Also with Youth Orchestras as the JOGV Youth Orchestra of the Generalitat Valenciana, JONC National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia, JORCAM Youth Orchestra of the Community of Madrid, etc.
He has also taught the Master on "Analysis and Musical Performance" at the University of Oviedo. He is currently Professor of International Music Academy High Performance "Maurice André".
In August 1989, he was the principal horn in the Municipal Band of Bilbao, and from August 1990 to October 2004, he was the principal horn in the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra. In the 2005-2006 season, he was the first horn of the Navarra Symphony Orchestra - Pablo Sarasate.
He has performed with conductors such as Yaron Traub, Günter Neuhold, García Asensio, Manuel Galduf, Gilbert Varga, Ros Marbá, Enrique Diemecke, Andrass Schiff, Junichi Hirokami, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev, Vasily Petrenko, Christian Vasquez and Gianandrea Noseda, among others.
Since its founding in September 2006, he has been the principal horn of the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana - Palau de les Arts "Reina Sofia".
He is currently Stomvi artist and plays with the new horn Stomvi "Titán SEIS" which he has helped develop.
