Principal trumpet of Suzhou Symphony Orchestra

Spanish trumpeter Juan Pablo Muñoz is currently principal trumpet of the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra and has worked as associate trumpet professor at the Suzhou University. He performed in concert halls from New York to Tokyo, appearing with orchestras from China, Spain, Italy, Germany and Denmark.

During his time in Denmark, Juan was awarded a position as academist with the Aarhus Symfoniorkester, as well as winning first prize in the "Prince of Denmark'' brass ensemble competition which earned him concert tours as soloist with the Brass Band Prinsens Musikkorps. Orchestrally, he has played under the baton of esteemed maestros such as Xu Zhong, Chen Xieyang, Roberto Abbado, Daniel Oren, Tan Dun, James Judd, Bright Sheng, Friedrich Haider, Mark Soustrout, Josep Pons and Pablo Gonzalez. He also played with many of Spain's leading orchestras, including the Oviedo Filarmonía Symphony Orchestra, the Spanish National Youth Orchestra, Orquestra Simfònica del Principat d'Astúries, Orquestra Simfònica de Castella i Lleó and Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès.

He began his studies at eight at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música of Valladolid and the Conservatorio Superior de Música of Oviedo, with Professors Diego Cebrián and Miguel Ángel Navarro, respectively. Continuing his education at the Conservatorio Liceu in Barcelona with Luis González and at the Conservatori di Novara, Italy, with Gabriele Cassone; he then completed his Master of Orchestral Music at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark, with Kristian Steenstrup and Reinhold Friedrich, graduating with top honors.
