Born in Madrid, Spain, he began his studies with Jose Miguel Sambartolome and Luis Gonzalez. Later he continued studying in Germany with professors Reinhold Friedrich and Laura Vukobratovic. His studies also included private classes with Pierre Thibaud in France and Thomas Hooten in the U.S.A.
He was a member of the Orchestra Mozart in Bologna, Italy, under the direction of Claudio Abbado as well as the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Barenboim. He has held the position of Principal Trumpet both in the Duisburg Phliharmonic as well as the Mannheim National Orchestra.
He has been invited as Principal Trumpet in various orchestras including the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, National Orchestra of Belgium, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, and various others.
