Trumpet Professor of Xinghai Conservatory of Music

Sun Xiao is associate professor of trumpet in Guangzhou Xinghai Conservatory of Music, executive director of Guangdong Wind music Association and president of Guangdong Branch of China Trumpet Federation.

He graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts of Vienna with a master's degree in trumpet and a diploma in Concert performance. In 2010, he won the gold medal of the 7th "Chinese Music Golden Bell Award Chamber Music Competition". In 2001, he was admitted to the world-famous "University of Music and Performing Arts of Vienna" where he studied with Carole Dawn Reinhart and was awarded the outstanding student scholarship of the school and Karajan international outstanding student scholarship while studying abroad.

In 2002, he became the trumpet chief in Vienna Webb Symphony Orchestra and began cooperation with top European conductors; with Renard Henry, Artistic Director of the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, he presented Mussorgsky's "Picture at an Exhibition" and Mahler's "Symphony No.5". In 2003, he performed Mahler's "Symphony No.6" under the batton of Harnoncourt in the Bruckner Concert Hall in Linz, Àustria; he collaborated with Seiji Ozawa in Puccini's opera "Tosca" at Austrian National Opera.

In 2008, he joined Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra as principal trumpet; he worked with many conductors including Eisenbach, Klaus Wiser, Xie Miao-Bichekov, Edu- Divard, Leonard Slatkin, James Conron, Louis Rennes, Miguel Haas, Bedoya, Ylang-Alkov, Kazmez-Cole, Lawrence Foster, Tang Muhai, Yu Long, Li Xincao, Zhang Guoyong Lin Daye, etc.
