Before the concert at the Palau de la Música

Gustavo Dudamel took part in an emotional concert in Castellar-l'Oliveral on Sunday 2nd February, in which he conducted 160 performers from bands affected by the Dana.

With a large band made up of musicians from hamlets and towns affected by the tragedy, the acclaimed Venezuelan conductor conducted three pieces for 150 musicians in a concert organised by the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community (FSMCV).

Dudamel and Pacho concert in Valencia DANAHe did so with a concert in which he shared the repertoire with the director and principal conductor of the municipal symphonic band, Cristóbal Soler, and together with Pacho Flores, considered one of the best trumpet soloists in the world. An act in which Dudamel made a song to the “rebirth” of music in times of tragedy: “Music is a miracle that must be celebrated, a very important point of union with which one can dialogue. It has a universal language that can be felt and after the tragedy it is necessary to celebrate the musical culture that exists in Valencia”, said the maestro, who before the concert came to greet musicians, colleagues and neighbours of Castellar.

Lullaby, with a trumpet solo by Pacho Flores, València by Padilla and the pasodoble El fallero were the works conducted by Dudamel. The concert, which lasted approximately one hour, also included the songs Lo Cant del Valencià, Amparito Roca and the Himno de València by Serrano under the direction of Soler.
